“A SA JẸUN” SYNDROME IN NIGERIA:
Meaning – Man must Eat! Part-4
Those benefitting from this syndrome will definitely not see anything wrong with this. But, those suffering from it are not finding it funny at all, assuredly we will all suffer the larger impact of what some have unethically benefited from using the back doors.
You take a bribe off the money that was meant to fund an infrastructure, and you later need to use the infrastructure and it performance is below expectation? How does it feel?
Some Nigerians have found themselves in a position to be appointed to occupy a position that the person is eminently qualified to occupied, but you are mandated to sort some people out because “no be only you qualify for the position” and if you don’t, of course, a fellow Nigerian is waiting to sort and be given that position.
This syndrome is malignant and spreading far and wide…. the political class, technocrat, development experts all are guilty and also suffer from this syndrome.
I recently didn’t get a deal from a State Government because I am not an indigene of that State and when an indigene was given, he was clearly told not to engage any of us that aren’t the State Indigene as consultants.
This is also part of the things we face in the Entrepreneurship space that should be more liberal.
